ESCOBEDO ROCKS the blogspot!!

A place for student to weigh in, keep in touch and become familiar with the WWW. It’s also a place for parents to check in on what’s goin’ on in D-1 and at Mark Twain.

Labor Day…

No School Monday!! I’m going camping this weekend. Anybody doing anything cool??? Leave a comment…

Back to school night 09-10

I would like to thank the parents who came to Back to School night last night. It was nice to see you!! If you came to back to school night, you participated in a Back to School Night Scavenger Hunt. The purpose of the Scavenger Hunt was two-fold. It was to show you, the parent, the important areas of our room: grades posting, AR words, agenda, writing, etc…And it was a test to see if your students is familiar with our room and where things are.

The bottom of the sheet also had a cut-off piece to put on your fridge. On the sheet in my phone number, email and blog address. Please  look for this to come home with your student.

Also, while our kids were scavenging the room, I played a picture slideshow of kids throughout the  day. I will be adding to this throughout the year…stay tuned….

Thanks again,

Mrs. Escobedo

Keep on movin’on…

I’m tired. I have to be non-stop all day…

First day of school…09-10

The first day of school went without a hitch…not any big hitches anyway. Thank you for being on your best behavior, especially when we have sooo much to do!!

Tech use: I am hoping to add a little blurb every so often about the technology that was used or the lesson that was taught. Today(Yesterday) I used my laptop to play an imovie that i made the day before. I also used my slate to control my mac. The slate didn’t go so well, i couldn’t get it play my imovie, so i put it down and had to do it by hand. No biggy…

Laptop permission slips went home; first class to get them all in gets a prize!!

Looking forward to day 2!

2009 CST’s

Where are you and where do you need to be? How many more questions do you need to get right in order to move up a band? Post some things that you have been doing to prepare for this years CST’s.

Predict how you will do this year…

Whew…

Testing is over!!! Back to a regular schedule…

I am really proud of the kids in my classes that worked hard and tried thier best! ;-)  Thank you, and i’m sure you will see your efforts pay off in August!

I am going to miss the morning snack and the granola bars though! ;-)

I am on a roll…

Yes. You heard me…I’m on a roll! It has only been a week since my last post! Yah, I’m excited too!

I thought i might comment on last weeks staff vs. students basketball game. Can you say, “Rip off?” No…I didn’t studder. I said RIP OFF! We sooo should have won that game. Not like i had any part of it. I sooo cannot play basketball…or anything else ball related…really. But I was still there to root on my team. Mrs. Johnson and i were cheerleaders. Sorta. I don’t do pom poms or any of that girlie-cheery stuff either, but i can yell!

On the other hand, it was very cool to hear all of the kids join together and chant. It’s not very often that kids in junior high are united in anything. That was the best part of the afternoon.

It was also kinda fun to see the teachers trying to keep up with the students. Some of them were dying! I will post pictures! lol ;-)

Poetry schmoetry…

If you know me, you know that I have never been a big fan of poetry. (I can hear Mrs. Andrada laughing now!) I have always felt like it should rhyme…you know….cat and the hat and all that… Well, we are deep in the midst of our poetry unit and it is starting to grow on me.

Hold your pants on boys and girls…I didn’t say i was a poetry lover. I just said that it is starting to grow on me…

So, with that being said, choose something that you love, search the internet, and post a poem. I would love to read some of the poems that you find cool…

Please remember to give props where props are due. If you didn’t write it, give the author credit! ;-)
